Dog gets a heart attack after seeing a leopard.
Stray and domestic dogs in India are part of 14% of leopards’ diet but generally leopards barely prey on other predators. These attacks on dogs are only the consequences of humans destroying its natural habitat and forcing the leopard to adapt to urban life, where the preys are dogs, cats, cattle and even humans. There some big dog breeds that might be able to fend off a leopard and if they are lucky but against a 80–90 kg leopard every dog one on one is cat food. A single dog against a leopard will be a fight that the dog will lose 99 times out of 100. It doesn't matter which dog it is. The dog uses its teeth to do damage, and its paws to gain position. A leopard will use its considerably larger teeth, and all 4 paws like knives, when its attacking.
Dogs have a natural wariness of cats and that goes back thousands of years. As before domestication dogs used to share territory with wild animals, and to this day they are very well aware of the animals that can potentially harm them and big cats are one of them. A domestic dog stands a little or no chance against a wild big cat. A wild one born to kill and hunt animals for food to survive is way more skilled and better equipped than man’s best friend who lives with them and gets food easily. However, the stray or wild dogs are at more risk of getting attacked by a leopard as compared to a pet dog.
Couple of stray dogs saw a leopard approaching them. They started to run for their life, one of them managed to hide in the nearby building. While the other one had a heart attack and it died on the spot according to an Indian news channel. We thought it was an epileptic attack but according to news channel it was a heart attack and it died on the spot.
