In this episode of Overview, Senior Journalist and Founder The Public India, Anand Vardhan Singh talks about the Supreme Court of India’s judgment in which it has asked to reopen the closure report of Special Investigation Team SIT for the inquiry of Gulbarga Society massacre in Ahmedabad during Gujarat Riots in 2002. The then Chief Minister of Gujarat and now Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi was accused of inciting violence against Muslims as a backlash of train arson on Godhra Railway Station. After this Gujarat riots, the SIT probed the then Chief Minister in Gulbarga Society violence in which the Member of Parliament Ehsan Jafri was killed and his wife Zakia Jafri has been pursuing this case. This comes as a setback for PM Modi as petitioners have accused that the SIT selectively relied on the sting operation conducted by Ashish Khaitan from Tehelka and ignored important evidence against Narendra Modi.
Anand Vardhan Singh also talks about UP Politics where the founder of SBSP Om Prakash Rajbhar and Samajwadi Party President and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav shared the stage in Mau and resolved to defeat BJP in the next UP Assembly Elections. He also talks about former Congress President and MP Rahul Gadhi who has emphasized the Congress members stop using alcohol and wear Khadi, as mentioned in the Constitution of the Congress Party.
